Yes, I know: This is my blog, I can do what I want with it.
That doesn’t stop me from thinking, “If they see one more graphic novel post! It’s not like I’m known for going on about them. And now! All of a sudden! It’s Cap this, Tony that, and Oh, God, Avengers Assemble! Sweet Loki, if this keeps up I’ll lose them!”
Them, my dear readers, being you. (By the way, I do realize that I’m not really known for anything, but that’s rather beside the point.) Just because I’m loving every minute of my give-me-all-the-things! superhero and a bunch of other graphic novels beside – because I also realize not every graphic novel has to do with badass men and women toting around packed baggage carts and impressive leather (and metal) fetishes – doesn’t mean that you feel similarly, or that your eyes won’t begin to cross as these things slowly take over the proceedings here at Tempting. So…
I’m going to turn my preoccupation with superheroes and GNs in general into a, well, not a challenge, because that’s the quickest way to get my reading brain to hit the brakes, but…a crash course, maybe. Yes. That will work. A year-long crash course in all things superhero and graphic novels/comics. And as such, I must record my findings and thoughts on what I’ve learned. You see? It’s all official-like now. (Feel free to join me!)
Plus: Chris Evans’s face is in my sidebar. There’s just no downside to this little project.
So if I start writing Steve/Tony fic in your comments, will I lose YOU? XD
Quite the contrary. If you start doing that I will love you forever and ever. Anything Steve/Tony numbers among my very, very favorite things. (Check out my tumblr; I am so not kidding about this. I’ve written some fic myself, because…well, it just needs to be done.) So, basically, please do!!
Excellent project! Once you have done it for a while will you be able to tell me what would be a good entry point for someone who hasn’t read very much superhero comics? I want to love them! I just don’t know where to start!
I hope so! The plan is to become big time comic book literate. And, trust me, they are so easy to love (if, admittedly, a bit confusing re: where to start. I just dove in head first, which may or may not have been the best plan. But it’s all good and a whole lot of fun figuring things out).
In total agreement with the Chris Evans thing
Right? *grin*
You could think of it as creating a data base for all the world to access…see, you’re doing important work! I for one will enjoy it thoroughly
Brilliant! Creating a database it is. Thanks for further legitimizing my
obsessionproject.
