The Vanity Giveaway*

*For those of you who saw the title of this post and thought, “Wonderful! I’ve been looking to replace that old vanity in the upstairs bathroom’, um…Sorry? That’s a different giveaway.

This one is being held in celebration of two separate milestones: Tempting Persephone turned five in January, folks, and Captain America, Iron Man and Thor ushered in my 1,000th post on February 10th. (Thanks for the assist, gentlemen!) When I think of those initial years, how I wrote and wrote and no one commented, which left me to wonder if I should stay or go; then of recent years, which have found me struggling with burn-out and shuffling through a beautiful mess of distractions, well…it’s amazing. That’s all. That I’ve made it this long, yes, but that I can’t imagine stopping now.

(The funny thing about this? I’ve been blogging for five years. It has taken me approximately four years and nine months to feel comfortable enough to put my real voice – my personality – out there. Each post has revealed a little more, and since no one’s run for the hills, I guess there’s no reason to pull the shell back out.)

But by this point you’re likely wondering why I’m calling it the Vanity Giveaway. I can help with that. This is why:

Make sense? No? In that case.

It’s because I’m celebrating me – or this blog, which amounts to the same thing since it wouldn’t be here without, you know, me – with a giveaway that consists of things I love. Including the picture of Mr. Outrageously Attractive just cements the fact that, yup, self-absorption is definitely holding the reigns on this post. Oh, and just a small heads-up: This won’t be the only time Chris ‘Chelle thinks my love for dogs makes me even sexier’ Evans appears herein.

Actually, you know what. Why not? To steal a line from the God of Thunder: ANOTHER!!

The Star Spangled Man with a Plan (Yeah, to drive Chelle crazy.)

What was I saying? Yes. Of course. The giveaway. I’ll just…

Tell you what’s going on. Someone – who, hopefully, has similar taste – will win:

Rosemary and Rue by Seanan McGuire
This is the first book in the October Daye series, which I have heaps of love for. I’ve run out of superlatives to apply to it, in fact, and have taken to simply noting Tybalt! whenever someone gives me an in to start going on about it. That may not be all you need to know, but you’re certainly going to be happy to know him.

The Losers (DVD)
No, I absolutely will not stop with this. It’s too good. Plus: Chris Evans. Being hilarious. And adorable. And super smart (with bonus ass kicking skills). And remarkably sentient regarding roles he would later play.

If I can make up my mind, I might include something else.
