Unless I’m mistaken, which is entirely possible considering my ongoing MIA status within the book blogging territories, today marks the beginning of Book Blogger Appreciation Week 2012. (And if I am mistaken, would someone please roll their eyes in my direction and correct me with an exasperated, “Dude, you’re, like, way off here. BBAW is actually [insert date here]“? Thanks.)
Assuming I’ve got the dates correct, my goal is to tackle each of the daily blogging topics with the exception of Tuesday’s interview swap, because I’m not on the ball and didn’t sign-up. (Which reminds me: Thanks, Janice, for unintentionally reminding me about this! If you hadn’t, blog silence would be a continued thing here at Tempting Persephone.)
So, today’s topic:
Appreciation! There are no awards this year, but it can still be hard to navigate the huge universe of book blogging. Share with your readers some of the blogs you enjoy reading daily and why.
Time to fess up: I’ve not only recently been absent from my own blog, but from the community as well. See, there was a little event you might have heard of? The release of The Avengers? The movie (and everything that surrounded it) short-circuited my brain, you might say, and I haven’t recovered. (Between that and my newfound, all-consuming love for Teen Wolf, well…Tumblr has been my blogging home all year for a reason.) In any event, I haven’t sought out new book blogs like I have in previous years, but rather maintained my relationship with the usual suspects because, at this point, visiting their blogs is akin to picking up a comfort book.
To that end, quickly, my forever go-to’s:
- Janicu’s Book Blog
- The Book Harbinger
- Stainless Steel Droppings
- Giraffe Days
- Chachic’s Book Nook
You’ve likely heard of one or all of them, but if not…Go ahead, I’ll still be here when you get back.
Now. A couple of extended mentions, if I may:
- Sandy from Pirate Penguin’s Reads is a new(ish) blogging buddy, and let me just tell you: If you need someone to squee over The Legend of Korra with, look no further. Over the past couple of months Sandy and I have bonded over Korra and the gang, music, and, yes, books (though fewer of those because I’ve been a slouching slacker of a reader), and I’m most happy she’s become part of my virtual life. You’ll find reviews primarily of YA titles on her blog, but you might stumble over some Urban Fantasy while you’re hanging out there as well.
- Pamela from The Discriminating Fangirl has been my saving grace of the ‘Oh, thank God. I’m not the only one who’s sort of, kind of, mostly abandoned the book blogging ship to stow away on ships of The Avengers kind‘ variety. Beyond that shared
fangirl frenzy over a certain group of superheroeslove, I just really dig her blog. (And she’s another diehard fan of Seanan McGuire’s October Daye series, which means, of course, that she’s got great taste in books.)
So, there we go. If you aren’t familiar with these fantastic blogs and the even more amazing, awesomesauce people behind them, I hope you’ll click on those links. (Just do so when you have some time to spare; you will be sucked in.)
Happy first day of Book Blogger Appreciation Week!
