“If I discover within myself a desire which no experience in this world can satisfy, the most probable explanation is that I was made for another world.”
~C.S. Lewis

When I was in fifth grade I decided I was going to be an author. When I was fifteen, determined to get a job, I went to a bookstore. When I settled into a career I became a Young Adult Librarian.

I still carry a little spark of hope that someday my fifth grade dream will become reality. And that bookstore? I worked in it for nine years. The discount was a dangerous temptation; it kept me there longer than was probably wise. As for the library, a decade later and it remains a wholly fulfilling job.

“What you are is a complicated girl with simple needs. You need your books and time to read, and you need a few friends and you need someone—not to take care of you, but to care for you. If you have all those things, you’ll always be alright.”

“Breakable You” by Brian Morton

Just stumbled upon your blog. I must say I am really enjoying your book reviews.

I am currently doing a YA challenge, and I was surfing around looking for some book recommendations. There are plenty here to choose from…

    Thanks :)

Noticed your Twitter note about Georgette Heyer – well Sylvester is a Heyer book in which Richard Armitage is the reader for the audiobook – and he will be the reader for Venitia too — if that impacts your choice that is..since you had a blog about him thought I would let you know. check out a list of his voiceover/reader work at http://www.richardarmitageonline.com/index.html

Where did the blog title, Tempting Persephone, come from?

I, too, am a librarian in a middle school in Atlanta. I have a book review site, though not as cool as your blog. It’s called Teen Tomes. teentomes.wiki.lovett.org

    dk :)

I came up with it. :) I love mythology, and Persephone is a particular favorite of mine. Books are one of my temptations, so I just combined the two.

Thanks for calling my blog cool. Made my day! :) I’ll be checking out yours.

I just found your blog. Very nice! I love the quotes you put on the about section! (I knew the CS Lewis one, but the other is completely new to me. Thanks for introducing me to it.)

A libriarian is a great accomplishment. The rest, I think, the author part, has more to do with unconscious reisstance than anything else. It can take a life time to over come that. Those books look really, really interesting. That’s something I could never do, conceive of a story line. I envy people who can do that. I think my big dream is to be the research lackie to a great author. :)
